MagAdapt
A magnetic plug adapter that assists the visually impaired in easily plugging in their appliances.
The traditional '3 Prong' plug has to be a certain position, direction, and angle to fit into the standard household outlet. For the visually impaired this is an extremely punishing and potentially dangerous task. I set out to design a plug that would take away this stress.
MagAdapt comes in two pieces, a plug adapter and an outlet converter. These tools will attach on both the female and male ends of our electronics and with the use of magnets, allowing the user to transform the chore of setting up electronics into a worry free task. With the incorporation of a magnetic DC connector, the plugs of power cords are guided into our system for a quick and secure connection. In addition, the power cable will disconnect if it experiences undue strain which helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time.
MagAdapt exterminates risk of electric shocks and damages to your home due to misguided attempts of plugs, and adds an element of enjoyment into an otherwise mundane task.
